Beijing: my TOP 10
...Beijing trip was actually in October 2009 for 4 days, but I guess there`s no harm in writing about it now :)
1.(BEST EXPERIENCE!) Tandem bike adventures in HUTONGS...there are 9 million bicycles in Beijing ;) ...so just rent one and go wherever you feel like! :) Amazing discoveries guaranteed!
2. The Great wall of China - breathtaking!!!
3. Houhai lake - a true party lake in the middle of the city surrounded by hutongs! So many cool bars, cafes and restaurants!!!
4. Summer palace...to daydream about the royal life :)
5. Forbidden city - full of people....but a MUST SEE :)
6. Bird`s nest - Olympic stuff :)
7. Beijing yoghurt: yummy!
8. Russian restaurant TRAKTIR next to this Russian shop :) - true delight - proper pickles, cranberry morss, potato salad, marinated mushrooms, etc (those who live away from home can understand my excitement about his kinda food ;)
9. Tiananmen square: crowds, rush, chaos, portrait of MAO on the facade of the Forbidden city...gotta be there...gotta see it ...gotta feel it..
10. P.S. When we were there in the autumn of 2009...

SHANGHAI "Must DO`s" :)
1. MUST SEE!
BUND - for the VIEW of PUDONG and Old buildings!
Bund & Pudong riverside- for the promenades along Huangpu river
Pudong - for the skyscrapers!
Free view from Jinmao tower "CLOUD 9" bar in Pudong (take the hotel entrance!)
...and Jinmao tower hotel lobby (promoted as highest hotel lobby in the world)!
Free view from the World Financial Centre (otherwise known as Bottle Opener) Park Hyatt hotel bar/restaurant "100 Century Avenue" (92 floor)
People`s square - for a park :) (museums and theatre)
Nanjing road (purely touristic "must see"...one quick walk will feel more than enough ;)
Xintiandi - for a western touch in Shikumen architecture :)
Old street area of Shanghai (take a walk from Xintiandi to YuYuan garden and you`ll discover small local streets and see the real life)
Insect market (also on the way from Xintiandi to Yuyuan garden)
Yuyuan market area and garden (very crowded, but a touristic traditional must-see full of shops, traditional snacks...
...and in the midst of it all you might even find the entrance to the traditional Chinese garden for an entrance fee of 30 or 40 RMB)
Taikang Lu (Tianzifan) - for narrow streets, galleries, cosy cafeterias, restaurants, Shikumen architecture and simply pleasant time :) (MY FAVOURITE PLACE IN SHANGHAI!)
Moganshan Lu (M50) - for art (huge amount of galleries located in old warehouse area)!
Quibao old town - for water town feeling and traditional snacks (Metro line 9, Qibao station)!
Longhua temple & pagoda - nicest temple in Shanghai!
Jewish quarter and the nearby market streets - for street life of Shanghai!

EXPO (because everyone else was there!:)) And I`ve heard that now after EXPO is over Chinese pavilion is open for public!
Sinan Mansions (cool new area: Sinan road/Fuxing road)
2. EAT..
...in one the many restaurants in Taikang Lu gallery area!
...dumplings & steamed buns in my favourite place next to Nanjing road (ask me for directions ;)
...steamed crab buns, lamb meat, meet sticks + other cool snacks in Qibao old town
..Hot Pot
...Chinese round table dinner
...cheep sushi in Sushi express :)
...all you can eat & drink Teppanyaki (price range: 115 to 200 RMB per person)

Haircut! (2-6 Euros in a regular local place)

"Barbarossa" (People`s square) - fancy & cool! :)
"Mural" (Hengshan Lu)- young crowd & open bar for 100RMB (Fri, Sat)
"Zapata" (Hengshan Lu)- cool for dancing (also on the bar) and there is a nice patio :)
"Bell bar" (Taikang Lu)- cool area & cosy!
"Bar rouge" (BUND) - expensive, but great view of Pudong from the terrace!
"Cantina Agave" - best margaritas!!! Very popular place!!!
...of course, there is much much more for all tastes, so just go for it :)

!!! Never follow "nice students" you meet on the street to a tea ceremony ... it`s an expensive scam!!!
